FUSE bosses Enzo Siragusa and Seb Zito have been invited by the highly respected Rawax to bring a taste of their beloved London rave culture roots to the labels first release of 2017.
Since their launch in 2011, Rawax’s catalogue has beamed with nothing less than the finest, and Enzo and Seb are a welcomed addition to their already colourful and diverse roster. Barac, Boo Williams, Fred P, Paul Johnson, Ricardo Villalobos, Ron Trent and Unbroken Dub are just a small portion of an incredible list of artists that have released via the labels original monarch and many offshoots thus far.
With ‘Woonie Trax’ Enzo and Seb perfectly resurrect the sounds of early UK rave culture into the present by digging out the early gems of their record boxes as inspiration.
“Barring the kicks, I think almost everything came from sampling old garage, hardcore and jungle records from the 90's. For those in the know, the clues are in the names of the tracks”. – Enzo Siragusa
Whilst ‘Shades of Riddim, ‘Lil Ley’, and ‘Blue Notes’ all lend themselves to the early UK sound, each track has its own individual quirk making the EP a diverse representation of the days Enzo and Seb fell in love with rave.

For some it might be Kraftwerk, but for me, my favourite electronic pioneers are probably Australia's Severed Heads. They were so far ahead of the game that they had to invent a lot of the technology they used. Inspired, playful, never boring and always sonically brilliant they pushed at the frontiers of electronic music more than most. By the late 80s they were pursuing a slightly more polished course and made a series of records that had the potential to reach a much larger audience. Possibly because of their name they never quite managed that, but they had several big club hits; the dub versions of which crossed over into the nascent house scene. I am honoured that I am able to make the dubs of those three 12"s from 1988 - 1990 available again.
On side A is “Greater Reward (Dub)” which has possibly thee most beautiful piano in the history of dance music. Often sampled but never equalled, it still brings joy to dancefloors 27 years after it was released. Severed Heads original production and mastering was so ahead of the game that it needed only the slightest re-master. The original, while perfect in every way was always tricky to dj with as THAT piano was right at the start so if it was mixed in, it wouldn't get heard until much later in the track. I've slightly rearranged it for dj use but haven't added anything whatsoever. Side A also includes the majestic original.
On the AA side. “Big Car (Crash Dub)” is a masterclass in how to make a track that chugs that is tedium free. At the time it had possibly the heaviest kick drum I'd ever heard and was akin to a mutant cousin of one of David Morales legendary Red Zone house dubs. “All Saints Day (Saints Day Dub)” rounds off the EP with future looking sound design, hypno bass and trademark Severed Heads edit magic.
Optimo Trax OT 015 is released on 12" and digital, May 18th. Distribution by Kompakt and Rub A Dub.

Out Now on Main Course!
USB Club Trax EP
1. Total 90 - Swick
2. Super Gold Tennis - Swick
3. Full Court - Swick
4. Zig Zag Radio - Swick
Hot Damn! 4 face melting tracks from one of the most consistently unique and original producers out there, our mate Swick. We got an email one day with these tracks like “Here's my next EP, what do you think?”. We were like “Holy Shit!”. Then he was like “Yeah, sick!”. We looked a bit closer and found 4 distinct and twisted tracks. 'TOTAL 90' is a bit tropical, as they say, driven by pulsing horns and whistles. 'SUPER GOLD TENNIS' sound like a ping pong match on steroids, trick shots and all. 'FULL COURT' is going to make some serious noise worldwide, it has set crowds into a frenzy with each play, expect this to cross over to the trap and festival circuits too. Massive! 'ZIG ZAG RADIO' closes out the release on a high note; stadium cheers, insane sounds we won't even try to describe. Lots of farts, but the impressively amusing kind, not the disgusting sort. It sorta brings us back to the first track, which tells us this release should be played on endless loop. No one else is making music like this!
Swick is from Melbourne, Australia. It's kind of expensive to visit there, but if you work there you make a nice wage, which sort of evens it all out. These tracks follow up the fantastically quirky 'Hi Score b/w Music For Birds' release which dropped about a year ago on Main Course with co-host Lewis Cancut. A frequent collaborator with Diplo & Major Lazer, Swick makes this madness in his garage, while watching football (we imagine). We don't know what Swick means, but if we had to guess, it might be a combination of Sweet & Sick. That's kind of a shitty guess though, it probably means something in Australian, like “Razor”. Cuz he's so sharp. Ok, this press release is OVER.

OT 009 - Jasper James - Sneaky EP
Sampler Tracks A1) Sneaky A2) Listen To My Buttons AA1) V Moog AA2) V Moog (Hillhead Young Team remix)*
*Hillhead Young Team is Harri and Esa
We return to Glasgow for Optimo Trax 009. Keeping the family business going so to speak, Jasper is the son of veteran and legendary Glasgow dj, Harri. While he can't help but be inspired by his dad's 30 year plus and still going strong dj career and musical knowledge, Jasper is definitely not treading on anyone's coat tails and very much has his own thing going on. A very talented dj and producer in his own right, Jasper is at the forefront of the current generation of Glaswegian dance ambassadors. Flatmate of Jackmaster and receiving lots of props from Skream amongst many others, Twitch was delighted to have the opportunity to release his first record. He has literally watched Jasper grow up, with fond memories of his dad taking him into record shops before he could even walk.
On his debut EP, Jasper unleashes three cuts of his signature bump n' grind atmospheric house music, all swinging drums and heavy basslines. The EP is rounded off with a remix by his dad with the help of another Glasgow (via South Africa) stalwart, Esa, as Hillhead Young Team. It's a family affair and bright things are assured for Mr. James.
Optimo Trax OT 009 is released on 12" and digital July 2014. Distribution by Kompakt and Rub A Dub. Mastered by James Savage.
